If you are 60 years of age or older and live in Vermilion Parish, we want you to know that you are important to us! The Vermilion Council on Aging is here to help older adults stay independent, active, connected, and engaged in their communities.
You may already know us for our meals program, but there is so much more waiting for you!
🍽️ Nutritious Meals & Good Company
If you are homebound or have difficulty preparing meals, our Home-Delivered Meals Program can bring nutritious meals directly to your door.
Prefer to get out and enjoy some good company? Join us for congregate meals at our Senior Center meal sites in Abbeville, Erath, and Kaplan. Enjoy a delicious meal, meet new people, and spend time with friends in a welcoming environment.

Our Senior Centers aren’t just about meals—they’re about friendship, laughter, activity, and staying connected!
We offer a variety of activities, including:
- Bingo
- Embroidery
- Crochet
- Line Dancing
- Fitness and wellness activities
- Arts and crafts
- Games and social activities
- And much more!
We’re always looking for new ideas, too. If there’s an activity you’d love to see at your Senior Center, tell us! Your ideas and interests help us make our centers places where seniors want to be.
🚌 A New Transportation Program Is Coming!
We are also excited to announce that Vermilion Council on Aging is initiating a transportation program for seniors and eligible individuals in Vermilion Parish.
We know that transportation can be a major barrier for older adults. Missing a doctor’s appointment, being unable to get to the grocery store, or simply not having a way to visit friends can lead to isolation and loss of independence.
Our goal is to help seniors get where they need to go safely and with dignity. We are building this program from the ground up and are excited about the difference it will make in the lives of our seniors.
❤️ Services That Come to You
Sometimes, a little extra help at home can make all the difference. Our Homemaker Program assists eligible seniors with household tasks, while our Respite Program provides caregivers with a much-needed break while their loved ones receive compassionate care.
Our Outreach and Information & Assistance services also help seniors and their families connect with valuable community resources. For seniors who need additional support, our Outreach Manager can provide assistance and help connect them with services that can improve their quality of life.
